Well it is our special day in the year on the 26th May 2012 when we hand over our Nucleus boxes containing the new colonies to their happy new owners. We hand them out around 9am. To make the day that bit special we have a Sale running. We sell off loads of second hand hive parts and clear our shop stock of all last years beekeeping items, We got some jackets, loads of jars, few hive tools, brushes, etc that we have on the shelves. We have a few nuc boxes and new varroa floors and a number of cedar hives. |

Saturday I sorted out this seasons used hive and got my blowlamp out. I set about scorching all the wood to kill any resident disease, insect eggs and mould.
It took a few hours and I had the pleasure of being out in the strong winds and rain. I got to thinking as the rain lashed down and the wind got inside my coat........
It seems to me sunny days are reserved for weekdays and weekends comprise of rain and gales these days.
In March I was at work in the week and saw temperatures some days that would equal our good summer days, up in the twenties, followed by sleet and rain. |

Well time is drawing near when we hand over our new colonies of Bees. we provide a lovely healthy nucleus of Bees in a Corex Box on the 26th may 2012 and have a chat and a tea or coffee. We like to see our new owners happy and delighted with their Bees. And we are at the end of the phone ready to answer any questions. We usually charge £185 per nucleus, but we know times are hard so we are dropping our price to £165 per nuc if you order now.
We have Bees For Sale every year and we don't make you go on two year waiting lists like Thornes and we don't charge over two hundred quid either. |

Its getting time when we are looking to complete our Order Book for Bees. We have a day in May 2012, the 26th to be exact where we meet people who ordered nucs of bees and hand them over. I always have a chat with them and offer tea or coffee and make sure they know what to do with the very full Corex Box of Bees they collect. We got quite a few not sold so I'm reducing the price from £185 to £165 a nuc this year.
If you'd like to order one you can email me or do it via our website www. |

Last week I was in T Shirt and shorts and thinking about splitting my biggest hive and creating a new nucleus of bees. I gave them some fondant and they seemed happy. This week there is severe weather conditions and snow.
Boosting the feed and the resultant Queens increase in laying is not good when there is bad weather to come. They will be stuck in the hive and the bees emerging will increase the demand for the dwindling food stocks.
I'm going to have to feed them again and keep on feeding them till spring really does get here. |

It is blue skies and bright sun this week, with temperatures climbing to 17 Celsius maybe Spring has finally arrived. I keep my Bees in a beautiful garden belonging to a Stately Home in warwickshire. the setting is beautiful. I am very lucky. I let myself into the empty Gardens and go to my Apiary at the back of the Gardens near a piece of woodland. I went to my hives and fed my Bees Fondant on Sunday afternoon and was really pleased to see loads of fit healthy Bees emerging from the crown board of the first one as soon as I took the roof off. |
