Last week I was in T Shirt and shorts and thinking about splitting my biggest hive and creating a new nucleus of bees. I gave them some fondant and they seemed happy.
This week there is severe weather conditions and snow.
Boosting the feed and the resultant Queens increase in laying is not good when there is bad weather to come. They will be stuck in the hive and the bees emerging will increase the demand for the dwindling food stocks.
I'm going to have to feed them again and keep on feeding them till spring really does get here.
Also I made the mistake of buying seeds and compost to do all the plant containers and baskets in the next few weeks. The weather has taught me a lesson again, patience is the thing, now I got seeds, several bags of compost and a pile of containers that just have to wait.......
